Alan has owned Prairie View Farms since his graduation from the University of Illinois in 1995. He owns and manages more than 250 purebred Angus cows, and sells and markets heifers and bulls through private treaty, auction, and through internet sales each year.  His Angus operation has grown from a small family herd three generations old to one of the leading providers of Angus show stock in the nation.

Alan holds a BS, and MS in Animal Sciences, and a PhD in Ruminant Nutrition from the University of Illinois. He worked for 15 years as a Beef Extension Specialist for the University of Illinois.

His farm is host to a satellite facility for Transova Genetics and works closely with them to manage an intensive IVF and embryo transfer program for his own cows.

In 2016, he was elected to the American Angus Association Board of Directors, the first board member to have also served on the National Junior Angus Association Board of Directors, where he was a member from 1993-1995.  He recently completed two terms on the Board of Directors, and served as chairman of Angus Genetics, Inc. for two years.

Alan was a member of the 1993 National Champion 4-H Livestock Judging Team for Illinois, and a member of the 1994-95 University of Illinois Livestock Judging Team. He has judged cattle shows across the country, including National Western Stock Show, North American International Livestock Exposition, Fort Worth Stock Show, San Antonio Stock Show, and internationally in both Mexico and Canada.

Alan and his wife Theresa live on the farm in Gridley Illinois and have three children, Amelia, Adam and William.
